Outreach

Cynthia has a personal interest and strong track record in promoting K-12 enthusiasm and participation in science and technology. She has served as a judge for the FIRST Robotics Competition, consulted and participated in the extremely successful Boston Museum of Science exhibit Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination and companion book published by the National Geographic. She has also participated in the National Academy of Sciences Women’s Adventures in Science book series that was created to encourage middle-school age girls to get involved in science and technology. She continues to collaborate with the Boston Museum of Science on a number of other projects that marry her current research at MIT with the museum’s educational mission. As part of her public outreach, Cynthia and her student’s work have been showcased in numerous museums and exhibitions. Her robots have also been widely covered in the media including television, radio, newspapers, magazines, documentaries and films.
